§ 14.04.340. Usage according to permit—Compound taps generally prohibited.

  • A "compound tap" is defined as more than one property connected to a single water or fire-service line. No compound usage taps, except as provided for residential condominium or residential townhome ownership in section 14.04.350, or as provided for master metering at Vance Brand Municipal Airport in subsection 14.04.290.C.5, shall be permitted, and it is unlawful for any person to use water from the water mains in any building for other than that for which permit was issued. A "residential townhome" is defined, for purposes of this chapter, as three or more separately owned dwelling units within one building structure sharing common walls, with each unit of the building structure on a separate legal lot, and all common areas in homeowner's association ownership. A "residential condominium" is defined, for the purposes of this chapter, as three or more separately owned dwelling units, with the units often stacked one above the other in a vertical configuration, sharing common vertical walls and/or horizontal floors and ceilings with the entire structure, or combination of multiple structures, situated on one legal lot. Each separate building structure shall have a separate service line and meter. Services for a residential townhome unit on a compound tap must extend out from the building structure to a common service line which is located at least five feet horizontally from the outside foundation of the building structure. Service lines shall not be connected underneath or through one building structure to the next.
