§ 16.20.400. Section 705.1 replaced - General.

Section 705.1 of the International Property Maintenance Code is replaced with the following:
705.1 General. Carbon monoxide detection must be provided in every residential occupancy with a fuel fired appliance or fireplace or an attached garage that has been offered for sale or changed ownership, or that has had interior alterations, repairs, fuel fired appliance replacements, or additions that require a permit, on or after July 1 ^st, 2009. Carbon monoxide detection shall be installed in every dwelling unit with a fuel fired appliance, fireplace or attached garage.

The detectors shall be installed within 15 feet of any sleeping area and may be battery powered, hard wired or cord and plug type. Where a fuel-burning appliance is located within a bedroom or its attached bathroom, a carbon monoxide alarm shall be installed within the bedroom.
