§ 3.04.500. Suspension.

  • Executive directors may, for cause, suspend employees under their supervision without pay.

    A.

    An executive director or director's designee may, for cause, suspend employees under their supervision without pay for up to three working days.

    B.

    Upon prior review of the facts by the human resources director, an executive director may, for cause, suspend employees under their supervision without pay for a period of between four and 30 working days.

    C.

    For fire department shift personnel, each working day of suspension shall be calculated and deducted at the rate of 11.2 hours of pay. For each working day of suspension of a fire department shift employee, the shift employee in question shall be required to work the first 12.8 hours of the shift and shall not work the last 11.2 hours of the shift.

    D.

    Employees exempt from overtime requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act are subject to suspension under this section in whole day increments only.
